Permanent exhibition of the Homeland War Museum Nikolina Jelavić Mitrović

Project description
The permanent exhibition depicts the course of the Homeland War from 1991 to 1995, with an emphasis on the Karlovac area. Four units are shown in a 300 m2 area: The Independence of Croatia, The Course of the War, Life in a Shelter and Operation Storm. With the help of numerous audiovisual presentations and interactive content, especially sounds, visitors are drawn into the war events and are made to feel as if they were in the midst of enemy fire or in a shelter. A block of 8 showcases cut diagonally depicts the strengthening of the Croatian troops’ position, while the enemy position is weakening. There are tablet computers on the showcases used for research of the exhibits and to control lights. The exhibition ends with a message about the importance of peace – visitors hang their own message of peace on a stylized tree.
