Bulrush talks Andreja Lovreković, Ela Meseldžić

Project description
Bulrush grows in wetlands. In the vicinity of Lepoglava in northern Croatia there are numerous stories about it, related to the historical, social and economic context of the area. These stories are conveyed by the Zagoršćak family, which is involved in the entire cycle of the bulrush; from searching for it, picking, drying, and weaving it at the loom. Focus of the Bulrush talks project is on optimizing the process that takes place after harvesting: traditional weaving at the loom is replaced with the production of new material obtained from remains of the bulrush, or bad quality bulrush. Their processing and mixing with binders has resulted in new composite material which carries potential for new, modern uses of bulrush.
Realised within the Made In platform.
