Discovering Dalmatia: Dalmatia in Travelogues, Images, and Photographs Damir Gamulin

Project description
The graphic style of “Discovering Dalmatia”, the second in a series of scholarly monographs on the travel writings on Dalmatia, grew out of a modern interpretation and detailed analysis of Robert Adam’s 1764 publication on Diocletian’s Palace. The typographical approach and relation of text to graphics relies on historically appropriate methods which are used to fulfill the specific needs of the new publication. Graphic material is organized in an “academic” way on the page, on the soft grey background, resulting in a clear overview of the development of its technique and style. The same grey tone is used for chapter transitions, as well as for sections necessary for a scholarly publication.
