This book explores the link between two seemingly unrelated topics: the experiences of girls who have suffered sexual abuse, violence, and sexism, and society’s reactions to news about these abuses. The inspiration for the book came from the comment “Maybe it’s the other way around” on the news about the rape of two girls. The book has no back cover but two front covers and can be read from both sides. Each side offers insight into the issue of violence against women. The girls’ stories are accompanied by illustrations inspired by animals considered terrifying in various mythologies and often associated with women. How you read the book is up to you, but you are encouraged to turn it over and explore both sides.
