The Artist Job Description, for the Employment of the Artist, as an Artist inside the Art Institution studio Oaza
Project description
The book as an object is the result of the PhD research of the Brazilian artist Vijai Patchineelam at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp. It deals with the artist’s experience of work and residence within art institutions and the development of artistic practice with an attempt to recognize and deal with the tensions that exist in that relationship, especially today under the pressure of austerity-politics. It consists of three parts: 1. a theoretical part, 2. a central photographic essay – physically separated and perceived as a book within a book, and 3. a transcribed research seminar.
