The Permanent Exhibition of the Rijeka City Museum in the Sugar Refinery Palace Nikolina Jelavić Mitrović

Project description
The permanent exhibition of the Museum spreads over 1200 m2 on two floors of baroque palace, former part of a sugar refinery complex from mid-18th c. The history of the city is shown on the 1st floor, and the history of the refinery complex on the 2nd floor. In a modern and interactive way, visitors immerse themselves in the diverse stories of Rijeka’s history located within 28 rooms. Each room has its design, depending on the theme it presents, thus providing a different experience. The content is reflected in the forms and materials of the exhibition elements that create an atmosphere through which visitors immerse themselves in Rijeka’s past through shapes, colours, smells, sounds and interaction.
