Project description
ONDA (Italian word for wave) is a tool for cutting and ridging gnocchi inspired by scallop shells. The inspiration for the creation was a great similarity between two different objects: scallop shells and the author’s grandmother’s gnocchi ridger. Her gnocchi ridger, unlike the classic wooden ones, is made of corrugated steel which, with its wavy shape and sharp edge, resembles the structure of scallop shells. This analogy inspired her to give a new shape to the utensil used for the preparation of gnocchi, joining the knife for cutting and the board for ridging in one single tool. The combination of two functions in one and the inspiration taken from natural shapes make ONDA a union of aesthetic and functionality.
