Butterfly Valley - A Requiem Damir Gamulin
Project description
Design of the book of poetry Butterfly Valley – A Requiem by the Danish poet Inger Christensen, originally published in 1991. Christensen wrote a flawless wreath of sonnets, a cycle of fifteen sonnets organized so that from the second to the fourteenth sonnet each one repeats the last line of the previous one at the beginning, and the final sonnet consists of the opening lines of the previous fourteen sonnets. As such a tightly connected sequence is interrupted by the change of language, the verse is typographically arranged in wide lines in which, due to the use of slightly transparent paper, the translation is gently glimpsed. In this way, the two languages throughout the book are placed each on their own height: one language is seen, while the other is read. The small format and soft material was chosen to emphasize the fragile character and poetic content of the book.
