Željko Serdarević has been active on the theatre and music scene since the beginnings of the 1980s, while as a graphic designer he affirmed himself in the artistic group called Studio imitacija života (1987 – 1990). During the 1990s, he worked for the theatres and publishers in Austria and Slovenia. In 2003, together with Dragan Mileusnić, he founded the publishing house Postscriptum (Lexicon of YU Mythology, From Bauhaus to our home). Together, they designed books by small publishers (Pelago, DAF), realized video-design project for the theatrical and circus spectacles (Tomaž Pandur, André Heller) and recorded short experimental films.
For the last fifteen years, Serdarević’s projects in the field of the graphic design were mostly connected with the film industry – he designed many editions for the Croatian Film Association, identities of film festivals (25 FPS, Croatian Film Days), as well as film and film exhibition posters (Bonobostudio, Mihovil Pansini, Jagoda Kaloper). Serdarević also designed a series of art monographs (Tomaž Pandur, Dunja Vejzović, Nedeljko Dragić) and exhibition catalogues (Goran Petercol, Edita Schubert). He was awarded by the Zagreb Youth Salon, Zagreb Salon and the Exhibition of Croatian Design.
