Dowry Ines Barić

The collection’s name comes from the word „dowry“, the property that a woman or her family gives, or promises, to her husband upon marriage. According to rural customs, the dowry consisted of movable and/or immovable property. It always included clothing, or textiles, mostly products of the bride’s own handicraft skills. The designer gathered various fabrics inherited from her grandmother, or dowry when she got married. With heavy, rich materials, she wanted to show the significance of these items for her, and this was also an opportunity to bring them back to life. The aim was to convey a message about forgotten customs and items that we can still give a chance.
