Judit Elek — The Lady From Budapest is a book dedicated to the cinema of Judit Elek, who made both fiction and documentary films that are almost brutally personal, reflecting as much the history of her native Hungary as her own trauma-riddled life. The publication is written in the form of an interview and follows Elek’s life, full of emotional and dramatic events, which is reflected in the layout with emphasised quotes, atmospheric vignette illustrations and a solemn rhythm underlined with empty spaces and a toned-down colour scheme. The open binding reflects the rawness of the stories told. The typography in use is the official typeface of the International Film Festival Rotterdam.
