Project description
In late-stage capitalism, contemporary technologies like smartphones and social networks have blurred the boundaries between work and rest. The bed has become a central element in this transformation. According to Beatriz Colomina, it symbolizes the convergence of the entire world onto the smallest screen, turning the bed into a floating island in an endless sea of information.
In Consuming Time, the bed serves as a tool for exploring rest as an independent entity, rather than merely as a means to enhance work efficiency. It consists of 15 inflatable yoga balls enclosed in a hand-woven rope net. The net is created using an intuitive weaving technique without any predetermined patterns, making the weaving process long and reflective.
The work is not in competition for the award.
