Interwoven Tana Jeić

Project description
The work Interwoven explores creative, artistic and political potential of handwork through the research of gender roles and (in)equality in the household. These handmade pieces are not an affirmation of domestic comfort, but indicate that the home is a space of resistance. Four segments of the project have different keys of encoding information into wool. Confessions are granny squares with inscribed text created during workshops with friends. Scarfistics are scarves through which statistics are transformed into wearable graphs. Soft posters placed in public spaces carry messages about gender inequality. Reactions indicate points within the home related to personal gender struggles.
