Project description

The catalog for visual artist Lala Raščić’s series GORGO (2019–2021) brings the figure of Medusa to life, addressing ancient and contemporary myths as foundations of modern culture. The design draws inspiration from classical mythology, visually and typographically reflecting the atmospheres of the artist’s performances. The use of a copper tone on the cover and within the book block references the material of the costume/armor that the artist employs in her performances. The application of “classical” typography in dominant proportions is “beheaded” through abrupt breaks of words in the titles, which function as standalone visuals.
