Sanja Iveković: MAKE UP – MAKE DOWN, A Video Retrospective Studio Oaza

The concept of the Make up – Make down exhibition design at the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Rijeka unobtrusively enables a retrospective presentation of the anthology video works (from the mid-seventies to recent history) of the artist Sanja Iveković. The selection of materials was reduced to transparent foils and acrylic glass. Analog monitors are deliberately juxtaposed with the contemporary context of the content of the artist’s video ouvre, and they remind the audience of the time of their creation. This is a kind of a transparent setup within which screens and texts seem to float, and at the same time convey a layered feel, characteristic of the video editing method.
