Project description
A series of publications created for the Kunsthalle Wien. The visual identity of the institution is not conceived as a pre-codified, top-down project, but as a set of elements and guidelines that serve to mark the institution itself, while each exhibition or educational project, depending on its content and requirements of curators and artists, has its own specific approach. Two publication formats are defined, and even logo appears in 3 versions with variations. The main institutional typeface is KhW Ping (Typotheque), and each project is characterised by its own specific typefaces. Thus, the visual identity of the institution will actually be the final product of a joint engagement thru several years.
NOMINATION FOR CROATIAN DESIGNERS ASSOCIATION GRAND PRIX
Explanation by the Selection Committee
Great advances were made in terms of the design of this series, because it was necessary to provide a design response to a very wide range of topics, and the designers managed to do this without imposing a hierarchically and formally solid design framework. The open identity approach proves to be the right choice. The publications are refined, different, and yet function perfectly as a whole, recognizable not only to the eye of a connoisseur, but also to the wide audience for which they are intended. Special praise should be given to the superb engagement of Croatian curators and designers in a prestigious foreign institution.
