Dubrovački vjesnik – nagrada Negra Nigoević

The local newspaper Dubrovački vjesnik gives out two awards to citizens for their exceptional contribution to the city of Dubrovnik. This design concept results from combining two elements – typographic (letter D) and the padlock shape. The typographic element is associated with the city’s name and the Dubrovački vjesnik; on the other hand, the padlock symbolizes a connection between the individual and the city of Dubrovnik. The materials for making this award are stone and brass, inspired by Dubrovnik’s architecture. Both awards are made entirely by hand, so they would differ in slighted details, giving each one a specific verse. Small and sensitive, yet firm and heavy, this award symbolizes the strong bond between an individual persona and the city of Dubrovnik.
