Project description

Chord is an ambient lamp created from discarded natural and metal instrument strings, primarily inspired by the harp. Natural strings are recycled by boiling in water and grinding them. The metal ones are used as they are, as lamp wires with a built-in limiter. Chord has the ability to rotate the lamp itself and the absorbing sound panel as desired. By turning the lamp upwards, we get unobtrusive ambient light on the ceiling, and by turning it downwards, we get a brighter but still ambient light. In both cases, the panel serves as a sound absorber due to its rough texture, and as a light damper that, thanks to its openings, creates an interesting play of light on the ceiling or floor.
