Riah Neva Marija Zidić

Riah is a typeface designed as a self-initiative project in the typeface design course. After expressing interest in researching other cultures and scripts, especially Arabic, the designer’s mentor advised her to start by designing the Latin alphabet, and afterwards design appropriate and compatible Arabic forms (matchmaking). The process also included a significant research part, as well as consultations with external co-mentors (Bahman Eslami, Robert Čanak). The Riah typeface was first used in the social campaign Human is human which deals with the issue of refugees in Croatia, and which was also created in the first year of graduate study.
