The experimental book The Perks of Being a Wallflower consists of letters that the main character writes to an unnamed friend. The idea was to show the process of developing and trying to solve the main character’s mental problems caused by a painful past. Each envelope evokes the emotional atmosphere of the letter. The book is written by hand and on a typewriter, which makes each letter unique. Experienced emotions are accentuated in various ways such as sudden undefined moves, spilled ink, and messy handwriting.
