Project description

An open book, a canonical symbol for a university and a symbol of knowledge and learning, is the foundation of the new visual identity for the University of Split. Rendered in a grid of Gothic squares similar to those found on the city’s coat of arms, it connects to the national identity and evokes various associations related to Split and its Mediterranean character. By placing the symbol in different contexts—from the full name to the abbreviation UNIST—the visual identity allows for a gradation from formal/ceremonial to relaxed/student character.
