Jelsa Art Biennial 2023 Kuna zlatica

Project description
Jelsa Art Biennial is a contemporary art festival, held since 2019 on the island of Hvar. The festival connects audiences and artists through the use of public space with the purpose of bringing contemporary art closer to a wider audience. The opportunity to design such an event is always a chance for a freer approach, but this time also an intimate one. The designer, originally from Jelsa, takes her ancestors eighty years into the future to the streets they once passed, framing the photographs with two contemporary typefaces. The result is a design that visually stands out to the rest of the visual content in such a small place, and at the same time encourages the inevitable local chatter.
