The Ugly Duckling Kuna zlatica

Project description
The well-known fairy tale by H.C. Andersen, The Ugly Duckling, tells the story of a young swan mistakenly hatched in a duck’s nest, where, marked as different, it faces numerous challenges. The puppet show by the Theatre of the Blind explores this theme through contemporary issues such as peer violence, discrimination, and the rejection of those who are different, drawing from personal experience. The duckling, as the central character of the story, is framed by handwritten typography resembling a baroque frame. Its form, with indistinct boundaries that dissolve into the swan-like whiteness of the background, hints at its ultimate transformation.
