The publication and accompanying exhibition A Shortcut to Happiness? present the results of research in the field of emotional intelligence and self-regulation for the purpose of creating design guidelines for experiences and/or physical environments that encourage personal development on a systemic level. Shown through a spatial installation, the Emotion Microcosm structure illustrates the possibility of creating tools for emotional literacy training, as the first step in understanding and redirecting (sublimating) intimate sensory and emotional processes. The presented methodology provides a blueprint for design that supports emotional balance in children and adults.
