Project description

Visual reflection on the main theme of the 25^th edition of the literary event Book Fair(y) in Istria starts from photographic motifs from the holdings of the History and Maritime Museum of Istria, on the basis of which a series of original graphic interventions was developed. The series follows the narrative of the city’s continuity through historical periods and social trends by depicting famous sites in an unexpected way. The illustrations, used as integral elements of the visual identity, appear in the public space of Pula, but also as independent bearers of the accompanying exhibition concept The City is Under Construction. Rasters created by digital manipulation printed on metal plates reproduce recognizable archival material in a surprising way.

For the needs of the visual identity of the 25th Book Fair in Istria, designers used digital records from the Collection of Photographs, Negatives and Photographic Equipment and the Collection of Old Postcards of the History and Maritime Museum of Istria as well as from the inheritance of Alojz Orel in possession of Aleksej Orel.
